چکیده

Final-state interactions in the response of a many-body system to an external probe delivering large momentum are normally described using the eikonal approximation, for the trajectory of the struck particle, and the frozen approximation, for the positions of the spectators. We propose a generalization of this scheme, in which the initial momentum of the struck particle is explicitly taken into account. Numerical calculations of the nuclear matter response at 1 < |q| < 2 GeV/c show that the inclusion of this momentum dependence leads to a sizable effect in the low energy tail. Possible implications for the analysis of existing electron-nucleus scattering data are discussed. PACS numbers: 13.6.Le, 25.30Fj, 25.30Rw Typeset using REVTEX 1

One of the most interesting application of the many-body methods to the nuclear physics is the calculation of the properties of the nuclear matter, especially its binding energy. In this paper, we have studied the influence of Δ -isobar on the properties of the symmetrical nuclear matter using the lowest order constrained variational (LOCV) method with the V28 potential. It is shown that the ...

Interpretation of y-scaling of the nuclear response

The behavior of the nuclear matter response in the region of large momentum transfer, in which plane wave impulse approximation predicts the onset of y-scaling, is discussed. The theoretical analysis shows that scaling violations produced by final state interactions are driven by the momentum dependence of the nucleon-nucleon scattering cross section. Their study may provide valuable informatio...

Application of Ecological Theory to Management of Arid Drylands: An Example from China

Rangeland ecosystems shift across dynamic thresholds between differentecological states in response to natural or human-induced factors. These differentecological states are the result of interactions among climate, soils, grazing history, and management practices. The notion of a single ‘‘pristine’’ final state is onlyconceptual in nature, and because of this, dynamic thresholds and the effects...

Using mean-field and semi-classical approximation of Thomas-Fermi, within a statistical model, equation of state and critical properties of symmetric nuclear matter is studied.  In this model, two body and phenomenological interaction of Myers and Swiatecki is used in phase space. High Momentum Probes of Nuclear Matter

We discuss how the chemical composition of QCD jets is altered by final state interactions in surrounding nuclear matter. We describe this process through conversions of leading jet particles. We find that conversions lead to an enhancement of kaons at high transverse momentum in Au+Au collisions at RHIC, while their azimuthal asymmetry v 2 is suppressed.
